Rather cool out today. Miss Archibold wants a transfer. Don't blame her. Mr. Clark & I had a discussion re: boys when they will return from Europe, etc. Took a walk at noon. Turkey accepts our Peace terms & Austria asks for an armistice. Hope Germany quits soon too. Report to the effect that the Kaiser abdicated is in papers. Hardly believe it. Wrote Ed & Wassco. Lillie, Ethel, Aunt May, Sara R., Miss Traul & I saw Ziegfield Follies. It was very good. Got home 12:10. |

Eleanor's birthday. Came in early for a change. Clear & cool out today. S.R. said to meet her in Gimbles at 2:15. Pur. writing paper. Suit has been cleaned & delivered. Had shoes mended. S.R. & I had some cream in Strawbridges & then met her cousin Lillian. I left then. Rec'd. mail from Harry Cohen ask. me to send a cake if I make it myself & tell him he is the first to get one. I guess not. I'll send the cake but tell him he is not the 1st nor the last. Went to S.R.'s to give her grandmother an invitation that belonged to her. S.R. & Sam going to theatre. Baked. |
Decided to give Irwin a surprise party as he is going to stay at school now. Did more baking today. Everything came out fine, except that Harry Schecker was to keep Irwin until 7:30. At 6:30 in sports Irwin. Harry couldn't keep him against his will it seems. He gave him a lb. of tobacco & Louis Jacobs a box of cigarettes. S.R., Ethel & Lillie came over also. We had tea & cake when they left, then took a walk to Broad & Chestnut & back. Met Minnie Gross but didn't speak to her long. Wrote Ed encl. pictures. |

Was early this morning. Wrote Harry Cohen telling him I was sending the cake. Goodie - Austria signs armistice. Her troops shattered by Italy. Brought my coat material over to the tailor, he will make my coat. Rec'd. letter from Joe Goodrich enclosing a button from a Hun coat. Went to S.R.'s. We then took a walk as far as Broad & Market & back again. |
Packed cake to send to Harry Cohen. Left office at 11.15 & returned 3 pm. Mailed cake & picked a style for my coat. Had plenty of work when I got back. Decided I wanted to be transferred again. Got peeved at supper table & couldn't eat. Pur. lining for coat. Called S.R. & told her tailor wants $2.00 for making her skirt. |

Spoke to Miss Porter re: change & she said she would look it up. Called Adams & he thought he could arrange things O.K. Miss Traul said Mr. Fuller wants her to see Mr. Anthony re. pos. at Wet Basin. Now I suppose if she goes I will be the goat to do her work. Had an argument with Allen re. salaries also Clark. Miss Traub decided to take position with Anthony. No stenographic work. Mr. Clark spoke to Adams as to what my prospects would be with him. Clark thinks they are better here, & is trying to make me stay & take care of his & Allen's work. Miss Traul & I went to YMCA. Drilled & played basketball. Had a nice time. Took a shower bath & hurt my nose at door. Mother gave me the dickens for staying. Copied `a naughty telegram for allies about Germany taking salts. |
Messers. Clark & Allen & I had a discussion about whether I should go to Wet Basin or not. They won't promise anything but I am inclined to believe they will take care of me. If not - ????. Told him no. Wrote Wasco, Jules & Joe Goodrich yesterday. Mailed copy of telegram to S.R., marking the envelope Personal. Rumors that peace has been declared. Country has gone crazy. Everyone excited & left Island 3.30. Town swamped with people. Took a walk with Ethel & Lillie in town. Confetti horns, parades, ticklers - freely. Everyone excited. Better than best N.Y. Election Celebration. Wrote Ed. all about it.

Newspapers claim yesterday's rumor is false. General gloom. However I believe Peace will be declared in a few days. Went to Franklin. Got started in Miss Trowel's office. J.E.A., E.S.C. & Adams had a conference. The first two saw Miss Porter & she requested them to send me to her. I got sore & wouldn't go at first. Miss Porter praised my work & said my next increase would be to 28.00 but I didn't ask when. |
Was pretty busy this morning. Miss Traub & I had lunch together. Got my pictures (pretty good). Did some shopping. Wrote Ed. enclosing one of my pictures. Wrote Harry Cohen. Went to Franklin. S.R. & Ethel came over after I had gone & she asked me to call her on phone. Did so. Sam H. & Lesner are coming over & wants me to be there also on Sunday. Said Yes, tho I hated to. |

{shorthand} was pretty tired . Went to S.R.'s about 5 pm. Found Emma & Dora Richland there. Boys came & we went to Fisher's for supper. Took a walk down Broad St. & then back to S.R.'s. Sam Lesner left about 10:50 alone & I was wild. S.R. & Sam took me home. Never again will I do such a thing as I did today. |
Was awakened about 3:30 A.M. by whistles blowing & lots of commotion & excitement. Peace has actually & officially been declared & world is again in an uproar. Went to work but left after a bit of persuasion on my part at 1:15. Town jammed. Thought I would go out again, but I was too tired. Met mother & father at 4th St. crossing back as we went to Dairy Rest. & had something to eat. |

People settled again. Am in Mr. Allen's office. Rec'd. mail from Harry Cohen. He was sore about my last letter & realized that he could never win me. Glad he woke up. Went to Franklin. |
Recd. mail from Mrs. Saks. She wants Sara R. & myself to pay her a visit over Thanksgiving Day. Don't know whether we will go. Probably not. Played Basket Ball. Had loads of fun. Went to the tailor. Will get fur collar tomorrow. Wrote Ed. today. |

Thursday, Nov. 14, 1918 Recd. mail from Jules Sigmond. Recd. mail from Harry Cohen. Decided not to go to Red Cross as I felt tired. Went to Franklin. Poor show. Wrote Harry a 12 page letter. Felt rather peeved so I was very, very sarcastic. He recd. the cake. ok. Ordered a seal skin collar for my coat. |
Friday, Nov. 15, 1918 Bernice's birthday. Got my collar. It looks splendid. Tailor said S.R. should come up tomorrow afternoon for a fitting & mine would be finished. S.R., Ethel, Lillie & I went to movies in town. Will meet S.R. tomorrow. Mailed Harry's letter. |

Met S.R. at 2:30 after waiting one hour for her. We paraded around the streets & stores until we tired out. S.R. & I went to tailors. He fitted her skirt & my coat. Will call tomorrow for them. No mail. Am disappointed. I promised to call S.R. tomorrow to let her know if I would go to Narbeth tomorrow with her. Rubbed my nose & neck with mentholatium & went to bed. |
Raining all day. Washed some hankies & collars. Called S.R. & said I wouldn't go with her to Narbeth. Don't believe she will go either. Got my coat. Am satisfied with it. Her skirt also looks well. Wrote Ed & Wassco. Took a walk to S.R.'s to tell her about her skirt & get buttons for it. Left them at tailors. |

Had plenty of work to do. No mail today. Rain. Went to Franklin. Fair show. Miss Traul gave me the dime bank she pur. for me. |

Wednesday, Nov. 20, 1918 Miss Traul left for Tool House C today. Promised to see her at noon/ About 12:15 {shorthand} meet me in my office which she did. Went home by train. {shorthand} Block on #9. Got home late. Recd. mail from Herman Zeidner. Ans. his letter, also wrote Ed. Got my green coat from tailors.

Feel better today. Not very busy. Miss Traul called and invited me to her office for lunch. Left at 12:10 & arrived at 12:30. Tool House B & C looks like a barn & in a way I'm glad I wasn't transferred. Left on jitney 1:10. We moved offices to where Purchasing Dept. was - 2nd fl. & they where we were. Some confusion. Was all tired out. Recd. mail from H.J. Cohen. Went to Red Cross. We went to Graphic Sketch Club with Miss Noland & Cohen. Hanna Markowitz gave me her ticket for a lecture tomorrow. Wrote Irwin re: football game tomorrow. |

Somewhat settled again this morning. Don't have too much to do, but just enough. Went to a double launching today. It was very interesting & impressing. Went to lecture at The Witherspoon Hall alone. Had difficulty in getting in on account of the crowd. Topic - American Propaganda. Very good. |
Irwin waited for me at home to go to football game at Penn with him, but I missed him. Got my medal - 1st prize - Potato Race - from Miss Ferris. Recd. letter dated Oct. 26 from Ed. Abe & I went to Camden. Met Miss Goldfarb & her mother this noon. Promised to be over tomorrow. |

Scalded my shoulder & arm (right) with boiling water & it is rather sore. Called Miss Goldfarb up & canceled my appointment. S.R. & I went to tailors. Then for a walk & landed at her home.

Had my arm treated at Dr. young's. Miss Traub came up at noon. Wrote Mrs. Sacks at Baltimore declining her invitation for Thanksgiving Day. Wrote Ed. & Grannie also encl. a $2.00 bill for Honika (Chanukah). Went home by Penn. Pur. Recipe card index. Rec'd. 2 letters from Ed. one from Herman Zeidner & a card from Joe Goodrich. Ed sent me a card & a silk handkerchief as a souvenir from France. Very pretty. Wrote him again. Wrote Harry Cohen. |

Rather cool this morning. Had lunch with Miss Traub at Tool House C & rec'd. letter from Sam Auerbach stating he is feeling fine. On calling up Aunt to advise her, Fannie tells me he has been wounded (gassed). Too bad. My letter of August 14 to Ed returned on a/c of being addressed to Sanitary Squad B. Pur. fringe for dress. |
Miss Traub came up for lunch. Had quite a lot of work. Wrote Ed. & Grannie. Irwin said he would take me to Penn - Dartmouth game tomorrow. Gave Anna my braided Georgette dress & mother is to get me material for another one. Have indigestion so I went to bed early. Rec'd. letter from Miss Goldfarb. About 10.30 I got dressed & went to Reba Weiner's party. |

Very nice out today & I feel sick in my stomach. Grannie rec'd. the $2.00 I sent her & was very much pleased to receive it. Rec'd. letter from Lou Wassco & I was pleased & surprised. S.R. can't come over as her father broke his arm. Went to Franklin & saw a pretty good show. Called Mrs. Sobers & made an appointment for Minnie & Selma Mellon & Ray Cutler & I to see her on Monday eve. |

Met Miss Boardman in car & she looked very sweet all dressed up in her new coat, hat & muff. Pur. seal skin muff in Oppenheim - Collins. Waited for S.R. until 9:15. She didn't show up, So Abe & I took a walk to Ruby. Good show. Mother told me S.R. was over. Phoned Miss Goldfarb I would be over at 4 PM. tomorrow. |
